"Fire-Skull"
oil on panel, 11 x 13.5 inches
SEPTEMBER 11, 2001
"After my two boys came home from school we went to my parents' house to watch the television. The image of the explosion from the second plane hitting the building was being shown over and over. We watched the news and returned home, where I made the third painting of the day. I was now consumed with the image of the second blast and could only think of the people inside. I began to paint a ball of fire, this morphed, on it's own into the first of the 'flaming skulls'. I stayed awake that night with the rest of America and the world, monitoring the reports, waiting for the newspapers the following day, filled with awe and fear".
