ARTIST'S COMMENTARY

The yellow haystack-like form, in "High Yellow Pasture", is full of implications, while having no precise definition, for me. An invention which ultimately expresses my amazement at the glowing nature of the strong yellows of these alpine pastures, in contrast to the treeless and rocky slopes surrounding them.
The form was, years later, borrowed and adapted to be part of the composition for the five-panel mural included in this installation, entitled "The Story of Fresh Water." In that painting, it occupies a similar place on the lower-left of the picture.
