In many countries I have traveled in, finding professional art supplies is nearly impossible. I have made it a habit, when running low on paper, to tear the sheets into halves or quarters, to be able to make more paintings out of what I have left.

The scale of an artwork, in fact, effects an idea, and may suggest, to the artist, a different approach to a subject.
To me, some of the little studies I made towards the end of my second South America trip, are very special for their less developed, suggestive character.
      They are like haiku.
