ARTIST'S COMMENTARY (continued)

I don't know how many times, over my many years of travel in Latin America, that I have made my way to a pre-dawn bus, or transport truck, secured my place and dozed off, to awaken with the sun and find myself high in the mountains looking down on an ocean of clouds, and surrounded by beautifully dressed, shy indigenous people, poor, but glowing with the love of life. It is the type of experience which moves the soul, both at the great marvels of the elements, and at the beauty of unadulterated human culture.
This painting was made after such a morning, the type of morning which gives one hope.
There is no end to the wonders to be experienced on this beautiful earth. In every moment the endless wonder of existence reveals itself in a million places.
I suppose some paintings have been made to in an attempt to convey this experience to those who cannot find it, but the question is, in this age, how many are there who still want to know?
